Steps to Happiness

"Miracles are everywhere. Only that I have been resisting them."

Don't be fooled by the title. I believe that there really is no definite steps to happiness, if there is, would you be reading this right now? Well, no. Because you would have known it long ago.

So I guess it is better to entitle this piece My Steps to Happiness. For weeks I have been gloomy, moody and bouncing back and forth into sanity. Let's face it, life is not easy. And it did not help that all the while, I keep thinking that I am the only one having a hard time (I hope to share bits of my life with you soon). But last night I opened a folder in my laptop to watch a rom-com flick (as usual) to lighten up my mood. But there before me I found a video about positive thinking and watched it.
(Message me for the title of the vid c: )

I am not new to the idea though. I believe in it. I "believed" in it. It's just that it came to the point when suddenly I had to work, and feed myself, dress and shelter myself, with what little money I earn. I had to work until wee hours, let go of a lot of things...

Life became heart - breaking enough to fight for positive thoughts day after day that I just gave up on it.

But last night I figured that the world will still be hard on me tomorrow, and the next day and the next day. That if I will condition myself to be happy until the day becomes easy, I will be happy on my retirement! And that will mean a lot of wasted time...for caring, for love, for happiness...

Today I figured, why not be happy instead? :)

1. Get enough ZzZzZzZ...

Remember I said "enough". Too much will make you lazy, short of sleep will make you tired.

2. Smile.

I woke up, faced the mirror and saw the same sad eyes. Determined to make a happy day, I smiled at myself. It felt silly. But at the same time, it felt good. Throughout the day, remind yourself to smile and eventually, it will come out naturally, you don't even have to try.

3. Eat a good breakfast.

Set up breakfast in bed if you want. Or try adding some flowers to your table. Or absolutely anything which makes you feel good and inspired. Skip the newspapers. The phone, the work, can wait. At least for a little while. Guys, don't just eat, enjoy the food please.

As for me, I stepped on my favorite pink slippers and went to the nearest bakery to buy my favorite hot - fresh from the oven - toasted "pandesal".

4. Pause and breathe.

Pause. Breathe.

5. Talk.

For the little time that I have been sort of depressed, I isolated myself from my friends. And trust me, it does not help. Why not approach that girl who've been trying to start a chatter with you, why not catch - up with college friends, or better yet, a lunch out with the office mates. Please resist from telling them how sad, depressed or whatever desolating thing you are feeling. Just talk about movies, or boys or Spongebob. It does not have to make sense.

After that, you'll see it's fun. And how much fun you've been missing.

6. Let go.

Stop controlling things. Stop blaming. It's nobody's fault that it's raining so hard. It's nobody's fault that the traffic is heavy. It's nobody's fault that the bus is full.

Stop blaming others...and yourself too.

It's nobody's fault. Just the way it is. We are the ones labeling happenings with good or bad. Which depends on how it makes us feel. And what we feel depends on us.

Luckily, it's something we have a choice of. So you choose.

Want a day of laughter, bliss and fun company? Feel it. And it's yours.

Today'servings of scoops of happiness: Delivered.

scooped#1

The heart is such a fool.

Believing all the little lies which make it happy.

The heart is such a traitor.

Holding on till the last bit of hope the game of life can offer.

In the end, it's not the world which betrays us, but that fragile little thing that beats within...

A question that got me wondering

I can't believe what I have just done. I actually bought a  book entitled what the heck am I going to do with my life?
Well, what the heck am I going to do with my life?
It's one of the most stupid questions one could ever utter but I found myself at loss for any witty answer.
I can't even begin thinking of any answer because in the first place, I'm not even sure if I can answer it. For starters, it suggests answering a seemingly easier question:
If money, time, place weren't a concern, what would you be doing instead?
Author said that some gives answers immediately, while some still need some time to think. I don't know if it's something I am better off with but I'm one of those who gave quick answers. I know, have always known, what I wanted to do…
If nothing else mattered, I would be holding a brush pouring my emotions over a piece of canvass, letting all the colors express the feelings my heart longs to tell…
I will wake up before dawn, hold my camera up high, and catch that glorifying moment when the sun's rays would touch the lovely skin of our Earth.
And when the afternoon comes, I would scoop up my sketch pad, walk towards anywhere inspiration thrives and let my hands trace every line of magnificence my mind wants to share.
A muse of the art.
And I've never been farther from that dream than right at this moment.
